Dalai Lama mural

I recently painted a Freedom Fighters mural, which is made up of 4 freedom fighter portraits.

This one I did of Dali Lama, on the left side of the wall.

The quote says:
The more you are motivated by Love, The more Fearless & Free your action will be.

I dropped some drawings off at a gallery the other day, so I made sure I got good quality scans of them. They are from last year, and I'll share each of them on the blog.

City Life

I went to the city for the first time in ages yesterday, which inspired this drawing "City Life". It wasn't like the air was polluted or anything but it looks like that in the drawing... maybe its a collective memory of random cities I've visited!

Waterfall

Here's another painting I recently finished. Because I was moving studios, I was in a rush to finish a lot of the ones that were nearly done. Deadlines are great for getting things done and dusted!

Drawings of Bangkok

Bangkok is a crazy place, full of extremes with action on every corner. Traveling around, I took my sketchbook everywhere. I visited beautiful temples, drew market scenes around Chinatown, drew cityscapes from hotels and shopping malls, and enjoyed a longtail boat through the floating markets. Of course, I loved the food - from local dishes in funky street stalls to fancy restaurants.

Bus ride to Jodhpur

From my recent trip to India.

Bus ride to Jodhpur. In the aisle, many people were sitting and standing. Everyone was really friendly and enjoyed watching me draw, especially guessing who each person was!

Wednesday Life Drawing

Here are some life drawings from this week. I was lucky to have a great model who had great poses and lines. The drawings include a variety of poses, from one minute to 10 minute.

Sketchbook: Philippines part 2

Some more drawings from the Philippines. I drew these during a stay in Baguio, which I really enjoyed. Beautiful place, even though everyone kept telling me it was getting too crowded. And lots of green!

Sketchbook: Philippines part 1

I just came back from the Philippines a few weeks ago, where I stayed for a month. Mostly in Manila, but also traveled north to Baguio.

I did a lot of drawing! I'll post as I scan them, here is the first batch:

More Life Drawing!

Here are more lifedrawings I did.

The model was really cool. She wore a hat that she made out of found objects in India. It was beautiful and colourful and bit heavy. So, not only did she do fantastic poses with her hat, it was actually quite hard to hold them!

Here are the three last drawings I did, done in oil pastel, coloured pencil, markers...

Life Drawing

I've started doing life drawing at ROAR life drawing recently.

It is a fantastic group, with a a great atmosphere and vibe - and great models! With these drawings, I put a lot of emphasis on mark-making, spontaneous gestures, and being in the moment.

Sketchbook: Phi Phi Island, Thailand

I came back from Thailand a month ago, and loved it. It was such a great place, with beautiful landscapes and beautiful people.  I'll share my pictures and drawings with you of each place I visited in Thailand.

One of the places we visited is Phi Phi Island. It was an amazing place, and I lived in the tree house you can see in some of the drawings. Lots of greens, as well as pure blues in the water.

And here are some photos:

Thank you for reading :)

Sketchbook: Healesville

Recently, I went for a little art road trip to Healesville. It is one hour drive out from Melbourne (Australia) and full of beautiful scenes, from green rolling hills to vineyards.

We drove all around, to the Yarra Glen and another town called Yea. It's great to get out of the city and reconnect with nature :)

Here are some artworks from that session. These were done in my sketchbook with pencil, watercolour and some oil pastel.
