Life Drawings

Last Friday I went to life drawing. This time our model was Suzy, who was also 7 months pregnant. This was the first time I've drawn a pregnant woman and it was a thrilling experience. I started off with some line drawings then felt an urge to use watercolours.

I hadn't used them in a while so I was a bit rusty but then really enjoyed throwing paint around, especially with such large beautiful forms. There was a morning light that fascinated me; it came and went as it pleased. Also behind the model was a wall full of stains, bits of tape, marks, inspiring abstract marks.

I still feel a bit rusty with the watercolours. Some of them got real muddy! I think my best efforts were when I used the least paint on the paper, keeping that light moving.
