Studying Velazquez

A study of a Velazquez painting, "Prince Baltasar Carlos as a Hunter" originally painted by the man in 1635/36. I zoomed in on the boy's face, and changed the original smile into a more questioning look during the painting process. Looking into the history of the young prince, he died at the age of 16. He was 6 in this picture. You can read more about him here.

During this painting, I was amazed at Velazquez's mastery of those subtle pink and grey tones - plus, of course, his mastery of everything else.
