Jimi Hendrix is one of my favourite musicians, also the first CD I ever bought. In this picture the idea was to capture the spirit of the shy, daydreaming Jimi, behind all the lighting guitars on fire and playing with teeth showmanship. I always felt a discrepancy between the two sides of him and wanted to show that conflict.
I started this picture a few years ago. I was never happy with it. Anyway, after stumbling upon it floating in the universe of my hard drive, I decided to have another crack at it. I combined the painting with digital finish, and kept to a purple-yellow colour scheme which to me is very Jimi.
